Recommended Data Organization
File Storage
In order to maintain an efficient and coherent set of trials and data sets we have found that the following hyerarchy of folders works best. The idea is to generate a new folder for each time the "Launch" button will be pressed.
Simulation Logging
In order to keep track of which simulations have already been completed, we suggest a logging method such as this spreadsheet based list. It allows the user to visualize all trials and to see which simulations have yet to be completed. Furthermore, (and as we have found most helpful) it allows the user to minimize repeat simulations. For example, the first three simulations listed below vary only by glitch type. Through this system of organization it is evident to the user that he/she need only perform a single Structural Analysis and single Thermal Analysis. In turn these two analyses can be utilized for the no glitch, discrete glitch, and random glitch cases without having to repeat them each time.
Long Term Data Storage
Often, it is desireable to group entire sets of data together, (perhaps several complete analysis in which a single parameter was varied). In such cases, all folders can easily be compressed into a single zip file and stored on a file server for future access.
