Introduction

This software is designed to test the feasibility of a truss based actuation system to manipulate a large aperature, thin shelled telescopic mirror.

Variable Mirror Geometry and Material Property Parameters

The software has the ability to let the user define the following parameters:

• mirror diameter *
• mirror thickness *
• mirror F-number (curviture)
• mirror shape (hexagonal or octagonal)
• number of actuators *
• truss drop down percentage
• actuator stiffness
• truss/actuator coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)
• temperature profile (load)

* these variables can be modeled in a 'batch' format. This means that the user can specify multiple values to test within a single simulation. The software will generate all possible combinations of batch variables and perform the analysis on each one sequentially.
