Mirror Sampling Method

The Z displacement of the mirror surface is measured by sampling the mirror at specific points. A square grid is overlayed on the mirror so that the entire mirror surface is covered. However, some grid points fall outside the mirror's perimeter. Only these sampling points which fall inside the perimeter are sampled from. The size of this grid is set by the user in the GUI. The "Sample Points Along an Edge" specifies how many sample points should be places along one edge of this square. Therefore, the total number of sampling points equals the number of sampling points along an edge squared. The ANSYS Verification requires 125 data points along an edge to acurately correct the mirror surface. Therefore the user is encouraged to set the GUI to 125 points for every simulation.

This picture represents the sampling method.
